unreasonable auntie and meaningless stereotypes / Wednesday, August 23, 2006
have nothing interesting 2 write abt.. everyday go sch n all that lor. but then not that i wanna grumble or wat but that i really find that i m somehow v unlucky? ok mayb i think too much i cant help but find that i unwittingly get myself into unfavourable situations. n i cant do anything 2 change it! today i went with my frenz to my former hall canteen to eat. we were planning 2 order frm the western food stall. we waited at the stall for some time n the assistants inside didn attend to us. i tot they didn see us so i press the bell 2 alert. no response whatsoever. the auntie inside continue doing her work.after waiting for abt 3min, my frenz say mayb she nv hear ask me press bell again. i did, the next moment i know, the auntie started scolding us that cant we see she is busy with orders? how would we know?? the canteen is nearly empty lor.. cant be that many orders right? then she can at least tell us to wait when i press the bell the 1st time! she is really rude. we nv get 2 order frm that stall coz 1 of my frenz later saw her picking a fillet from the floor n continue preparing food with tat fillet. nway tat'z just 1 incident out of a few. ahh nvm... yea as some ppl said, just take it heaven is putting me through tests and i m destined for greater things! hahahahaha!
btw, something that has been bothering me, i find that when i told ppl i m from EEE they would go like," gosh do u really take tat? it'z boring." or " So, do u know how 2 repair the lights?" i have seen ppl literally shake their heads in disgust lor.. generally the reactions r like making fun. i mean, come on, there are more to this course than dealing with light bulb and electricity. in fact, dealing with power all that is my weakest area in the course. it'z actually beginning 2 get on my nerve when i had to deal with the stereotypes that come with saying i am frm EEE. but it'z ok if ppl r just curious abt how i cope with my studies, being in a male-dominated arena. well, i have to say that going into EEE is not something that i have always dreamt abt but as i get into studying it, it sort of grows on me though i still struggle with it. yea it'z not exactly an 'in' course for girls to take but i tot it'z the 21st century? n i heard ppl saying engineering gals r nerdy and all tat. bleh.. ridiculous. there'z this social pressure that gals r not suppose to like engineering stuff, unless u r into biological or chemical? i like to believe that i take pride in whatever i study although i may not b passionate abt it. i will prefer others to respect what i study too coz it'z part of what i am. hmm hmm just think all these stereotypes r meaningless and sometimes destructive. i am against stereotypes n discrimination of any form. then again, it'z in the human nature. try as i might, i still do it without realising. dun we all?

cheating taxi driver, sick with diarrhoea and fever / Sunday, August 13, 2006
It'z only a week into sch term and i am so completely and totally washed out physically and mentally! aww..poor me! haha ok enough of self-pity. jiayou! the thing is, thur it'z really a long day. not having slept well on wed night, went to attend lecture on thur at 0930 by right, lectures shld end by 1130! but they give us this ee2072 project subj which have briefing in the evening frm 1830 to 2130!! me and the 38 galz decided to go jp eat and shop 2 pass the time in between. coz hav tons of photocopying 2 do, we only get 2 eat lunch at 2+. after that we shopped meaninglessly around, helping nana look for a top from time to time 2 wear for her bash the day after.
when me,rubin, jia and nana returned to sch, it'z already 1800. by that time, already feeling goggly. as we sat waiting for lec 2 start, we were surprised to find out that we did not have the notes for the lec! grr.. have to rush all the way to print! really tiring~ only 2 discover later that the notes were not related at all! worse thing is, the lecturer assumed we knew the basic of java programming and only talked abt crap stuff like history and all tat! i mean, after 3 hrs of his lecture, i still dunno how 2 do it!
ok nvm..at 2130 we met up with nana at canteen b busstop 2 take bus! big mistake! the buses were all so crowded by the time it came 2 the busstop, all never stop! at 2210 we were still in sch! i really panicked.. fri still have lec at 0930 lor. we decided to take a cab to boon lay mrt. hai.. another mistake! the uncle must have seen we all so desperate. after we board the taxi then he acted blur blur dunno how 2 go boon lay! i dun believe lor, how can u drive taxi if u dunno how 2 go boon lay frm ntu? at one point, we tried to tell him 2 turn at a junction but he pretended not 2 hear us! then we ask if he know how 2 go jurong east mrt then can take us there. he said yes, just go str can le. ok he said go str, how come we have to make a huge roundabout loop and we came back to a place which looked suspiciously like the entrance of ntu. hmm hmm.. much as i like to confront him there and then, it was not wise. u see, he was the one controlling the wheels. ok we paid $7.90 to go frm ntu to jurong east -.-"" i even felt stupid for thanking the uncle at the end of the trip.
reached home at 2315.. so tired and hvn eaten dinner yet! bathed and ate 2 buns then went 2 sleep le. the next day i really felt terrible. forced myself to go sch, thinking i will feel better. lucky sch end at 1130, coz whole day felt dizzy and my tummy feeling weird. bouts of pain came and went. went home le str away sleep until night bah. after that measure temp then find out got slight fever. and also abit of diarrhoea. not surprisingly lah, i seldom fall sick. but when i do, it'z usually coz of over-exhaustion instead of viruses or weather all that.. i am lucky there'z a thing called weekends!

marina bay, fireworks, national day n nj'z birthday! / Tuesday, August 08, 2006

whoo~ what a day! meet up with beth, irene, joon, yunyi and ningjing to celebrate nj'z bday! haha went to marina bay to eat bbq n steamboat + see fireworks. haha great plan rite? me and irene were the first to reach marina bay.. wah so many ppl going there.. the bus so crowded so we took the shuttle bus of a restuarant.. hmm at 1st thought we going 2 sit in a van or something. coz too many ppl me n irene had to sit at the back of lorry! those kind of open air one! nobody else wanna take that. kinda regret after boarding it. haha quite exciting lah! we reached le then str away waste no time in preparing the food le. haha actually took alot of food then also ate alot.. but i nv seem to feel full leh~ ehhh..
we gave nj the presents we bought n make for her. we modified the earrings then gave it 2 her~ see nice not? also gave a necklace we bought.
yup then at abt 9pm we were all anticipating the fireworks to start. nj n yy went to some place nearer to the fireworks 2 get a better view but we just stayed at our table. the fireworks started q punctually and there were cheers from ppl around us when the fireworks started. they were so BEAUTIFUL! some were like star dust sprinkling down on us.. feels near to us! the best part is the last segment when they consecutively release a whole string of golden fireworks together! the sky so magical with golden dust, irene said seeing the fireworks made her feel full of hope. in a way, i felt similar too! it is such a blessed feeling if u can get to watch it with loved ones. it will be even more touching moment bah.
after the dinner n fireworks we made our way back to the mrt station... by foot! i knew it'z a mistake from the start but my friends were like can exercise and all that.. yea i juz go along bah.. haha they nv realise it'z such a long way~ haha by the time we reach mrt we all all sweaty and tired. and me hungry again~ oops! haha nvm lah.. quite enjoyed the outing! thx gals for the magical night! and Happy 21st Birthday NingJing!!!

Birth of 'InK' / Thursday, August 03, 2006
yes! me and irene have thought of a name for our brand - called 'InK'! means Irene n Kelly~ haha cool rite? actually rubin gave me the idea yday.. we were on the mrt 2 sch and she was like "hey wat'z your brand name?" i realised we didn even tot of one. at first i juz anyhow say "Irene and Kelly" then makes me think of InK. haha..i even did the logo~ look!
and wed me n irene met up to start our work on the charms. coz actually we bought 2 pins for the charms but 1 is defected! a loop of the charm is missing!! crap.. coz the day the shop is really crowded so we juz whisked whatever we can grab and nv check. alamak in the end we can only do 1 charm n a pair of earrings. n what a hard time we had doing them! first we had no proper plier 2 begin with, we had to rely on our hands n this pliers, which is used for cutting wires, 2 twist the wires!! n also we bought the wrong kind of loops!! grr we are really newbie at this. even make use of fishing line to connect the crystals. in the end our nails were are chipped~ haha but the products i considered not bad ah..1st time leh.. n with very limited resources..u guys see le give me comments on the logo n the accesories k? hope we can improve.. nah we not selling the accesories yet. they r for another purpose.. haha n they seriously need modification after we get ourselves a gd pair of pliers to work with! oh yea..we also need to set up a website of cos!

after my exam, somehow lazier 2 write blog.. haha.. ok lah sat i juz went 2 the auction dinner for hungry ghost festival, coz my dad is in the organising commitee. go there support mah, then also this is a chinese tradition. haha also got food i go le.. me n my mum sat with a table of strangers, all aunties i dunno one. then they talk abt their stuff ah.. pretty bored there. haha except see ppl out-bid each other. my dad also got bid lah.. $608 for those decorative thing for worshipping that is supposed 2 bring luck. after the whole thing, my dad brought home 2 big boxes of red wine! think got abt 20+ bottles! haha can enjoy le~
then sun i met huili n irene go chinatown shop for beads n chains for our DIY stuff. hehe we going to make bag charms for our frenz. wee~ v excited leh! maybe the beginning of my handmade accessory career. haha me n irene were like dreaming up ideas like setting up a business on this and we hvn made our 1st accesory yet! on the way we passed by a roadside stall selling handmade earrings, v pretty! the boss twist the wire with crystals until v nice and it'z like 3D. the colours also v nice~ actually v tempted 2 ask the boss teach me but he prob wun, why wun he teach me rite?
after that me and irene went to singapore casket centre to attend winnie'z mum funeral wake. actually it came as a shock. i just learnt abt it when winnie sent us all a sms telling us abt the wake the night before. although i dunno her mum well, still feel saddened by the news. inevitably i tot of my mum n dad, though i alwayz remind myself to cherish ppl around me. but my family still v traditional kind, so it'z hard 2 express love verbally.think asian families v concerned abt formalities all tat, sometimes make communication hard. of cos got some are exceptions.
btw, i juz buy a necklace from yahoo auction for $3.50. hehe long time nv buy online le. today the necklace juz arrived! hehe i like the feeling of anticipating the goods. here'z the pic of the necklace
